Committed to LGBTQ+ Equality in Law
Federal & State Civil Rights Representation
Family Law
This can include but is not limited to adoptions, divorces, paternity actions, protection from abuse or stalking/orders of protection.
Power of Attorney
Queer folks often times have chosen family whom they trust more than their biological. It’s important to have your financial and medical power of attorneys set-up in case of your incapacitation so the right person is making decisions for you.
Gender Marker and Name Changes
Missouri requires a court order to change your gender marker on official documents, which we are well versed in. Both states also require a court order to change your name.
Educational Discrimination
under Title IX and state law
Title IX also prohibits gender-based discrimination if students are harassed by other students, employees, or third parties within the school context for failing to conform to sex-based stereotypes as long as such conduct creates a hostile environment for the student.
Employment Discrimination
Title VII and state law
Title VII also makes it unlawful to use policies or practices that seem neutral but have the effect of discriminating against people because of their race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, and related conditions, sexual orientation, and gender identity), or national origin.
Protecting Your Rights for Over 10 Years
About Us
Madeline practiced civil rights law for over ten years, five of which with her own private practice. She is one of the first openly transgender lawyers in Missouri and has been devoted to advocating for the LGBTQ community and it’s individual folks who have been harmed. She met Arden and realized their combined passion for the queer community was beautifully aligned and established the beginning of Missouri Kansas Queer Law. We are driven by our community and want to be an understanding, fierce advocate to queer folks specific needs.
